MAC Pink Pigeon Etude House Dupe Review
Hi Ladies and Jellyspoons
I have another MAC vs Etude House dupe review for you. I really have been obsessing over matte lipsticks lately. In a teaching environment where you hardly even get a toilet break, reapplying lipstick isn’t a priority, so I’ve really been appreciating the concept of having a lipstick that stays put for a good 4 hours at least.
I’ve always highly respected Etude House's Dear My Blooming Lips product line. I have several of them, and every time I walk past one of their shops here in Seoul, I am tempted to pick up some more of them. They recently revamped their packaging and arranged them in different groups like Matt and Chiffon finishes. I had a miniature heart attack (almost) when I saw this because I was under the impression that they were discontinuing Dear My Blooming Lips and bringing out a whole new line. Thank goodness, they only changed the packaging.
Here is the old versus the new packaging (old on left, new on right).
I picked up one of their Matt ones a few weeks ago and I reviewed it, but then I thought it would be interesting to see how one of the older mattes compared to those of MAC. I have a few of them, but I wanted to compare this particular bright pink shade called PK 013 (Pounding Pink). It was gifted to me by my friend and it was this very lipstick that started my love affair with makeup.
At the MAC store there were two similar ones: Candy Yum Yum and Pink Pigeon, but Pink Pigeon was a closer match. Here is a photo of MAC Pink Pigeon next to Etude House Dear My Blooming Lips PK013.
As you can see in the packaging PK013 looks brighter.
Here are the swatches on my hand:
You can see the difference is hardly discernible, and they even look more similar when swatched on the lips:

I’d give the Etude House PK013 a 4.8 out of 5, just because of the very slight colour difference. It has the same staying power and colour pay off as Pink Pigeon and you can get at a steal from Etude House for less than $10. Keep in mind that Etude House has a sale just about every month and with their club membership, you can really get bargains all the time.
That’s it from me in sunny Seoul.
Lots of love
