De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray Dupe Review
Hi Ladies and Jellyspoons
It's so hot and humid here in Seoul, and a lot of my friends have asked me how I manage to keep my makeup on my face all day. A lot of you might might have heard of the Swedish brand named Skindanavia. They have come out with an innovative concept: a product that you spray onto your face after applying your whole face of makeup, and it seals the makeup onto your skin so it won't melt or slide off in the humidity. Some Youtube gurus swear that using hair spray works as well. I wonder if that's where the idea comes from ;) Either way, I'm not about to spray hairspray onto my face, because I know how fussy my skin can get.
Urban Decay Cosmetics caught on to the ingenuity of this concept and decided to buy into some of their products. I, from time to time, bite the bullet and invest in Urban Decay's eyeshadow palettes, and what I really love about them is that they always add a small sample product or two with every palette or large enough purchase. I have gotten Primer Potions, mini lipsticks and of course a tiny bottle of their setting spray called De Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray.
I really wanted to prove that this stuff doesn't work, or test whether it works as well as they claim. So the morning before my husband and I set out to cycle for 40 km along the Han river in late summer of 2014, I tried my little setting spray sample, and it worked like an absolute dream.
Here is a picture of me at the end of our route, after 40 km, about 4 hours of cycling in the Seoul summer sun. I'd say the picture speaks for itself.
I seem to gravitate towards brands that give out free samples, which is why I have been obsessing over Korean brands - they always load you with samples! I spend a lot of my spare change at Etude House, because their products are not only very cheap, but also have the quality of high end products. I've recently accumulated so many samples that I promised myself to start using them.
Get the dupe here.
Since I had two bottles Etude House's Face Conditioning Fixer spray, I decided to try it out. And guys.. It works just as well as the Urban Decay De Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray! I've been using it ever since the beginning of summer, every single day. I ran out of my first sample and just opened the second one yesterday, and I will not be able to live without a bottle of it in the future. It is literally the best thing since sliced cheese. The great thing again is that Etude House doesn't charge an arm and a leg for their products, and it's available all over Korea, even the one horse towns, whereas Urban Decay only has 2 or 3 locations in Korea so far.
My days of melty make up face are officially over. Yass!
Anyway, beauties, that’s all from me for today. I hope you have a lovely week.
